Winter actions

To
complete the clearing of snow of the whole communal territory,
the technical teams spend about 9 hours !
PUBLIC ROADS AND STREETS : the
municipal teams ensure the clearing of snow from communal roads
and streets (approximately
25 kms), pavements, parking areas and school complexes as well
as the salting of dangerous sectors (stops, bends, round-abouts,
streets with steep inclines). Salting is limited for environmental
reasons. Snow clearing and salting of secondary roads are carried
out by the “Conseil Général” (General
Council).
PRIVATE ROADS : the clearing of the
snow from private roads is not the responsibility of the municipalities,
which do not perform
this service. Nevertheless, in Prévessin-Moëns, the
clearing of snow from open and accessible private roads in “lotissements” and
residences (main streets only) is subcontracted to two companies.
(Closed residences have to clear snow by their own means). The
service is determined by the Technical Services according to the
amount of snow and the availability of staff and companies involved.
Given the number of “lotissements” and residences to
be cleared of snow (one hundred in all), it is obvious that there
will be a delay in clearing all these roads. If the persons in
charge of the “lotissements” and residences wish for
the snow to be cleared faster, they should get in touch with a
company to have this work done privately. The Municipality does
not do the salting of these private roads; it is up to each co-propriety
to take responsibility for salting the parts that are considered
dangerous.
The passage of the snowplough results in some accumulation of
snow at the entrance of properties. The municipal teams do their
utmost to cause the least inconveniences possible. Thank you for
doing the necessary for clearing snow in these places.
The Technical Services welcome any suggestions or comments concerning
these services. These may be sent by e-mail to the following address:
technique@prevessin-moens.fr . Please include your name and address.
REMINDER
- It is an obligation for every local resident to
clear the pavement in front of his/her property and to facilitate
the passage of snow
clearing equipment by not parking on public roads or pavements.
-
Vehicles must be cleared of snow and be equipped appropriately (snow
tyres, etc) to circulate safely
